When I do these reviews I always hope for the best going into the restaurant but prepared for not everything to be good. And then there's times when unfortunately the overall standard and quality is sub par across the board. We purchased the slider sampler, one each of brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken with Mac n cheese and potato salad. 1. All the meat was cold, surprisingly TOUGH and EXTREMELY dry. There wasn't really a smokehouse flavor to it unless you added a sauce which honestly wasn't all that good. 2. Commercially made sides. The Mac was also served cold and had an odd flavor and after taste. The potatoes in the salad seemed almost uncooked, this is because the manufacturer is trying to prevent mushiness but makes for a very "crunchy" and undesirable texter when it comes to a good potato salad. 3. Boxed corned like you'd find in a cafeteria and was very dry. $26 with the tip for this "quality" of food isn't worth a return visit. 1 out of 5. I would not recommend dining here.

We love the food here. Thereβs other barbecue places in town, but this is our favorite. The staff is really nice, they serve up great portions, and the meat is delicious.

Amazing food that tantalized our taste buds. We cleaned our plates with the 3 meat combos. Pulled pork, brisket & chicken; with home made coleslaw & Mac n cheese was all out of this world. We also got a free slice of bread with our dinner. The house dry rubber & 3 flavors of bbq sauces on the tables were spectacular. My favorite was the cherry bbq sauce. I'm so glad we came in to try their food. We will absolutely come back next time were in town. Bravo STEVES SMOKIN BBQ. Bravo!!!

Iβm from Texas and I thought the food here was really good! We tried everything. The smoked turkey was super moist and very flavorful, the chopped brisket was flavorful and moist, the smoked chicken was flavorful. The potato salad and the beans were amazing. The slaw was not my favorite. I hope more people try this place. Based on prior reviews they must be doing something different now because our Friday evening take out was really good. As far as cost, it seems on point for everywhere else in traverse city. Five stars from me!

I was very excited to try this restaurant as Iβve heard many great reviews. I got take out of a 2 meat platter with pulled pork and chopped brisket. While the meat was OK, it was a little dry and I was surprised that for a bbq restaurant it didnβt come with any bbq sauce. The smoked beans were a little sweet, but I liked them, and the Mac and cheese was good, but I was shocked at how small the sides were. Also, the Texas toast was not toast and was just a plain piece of thick white bread. I grew up in the south and understand that bbq in Michigan may not meet the same standard, but was a little disappointed after spending $27 with a tip on this meal. As my to go order wasnβt seen, it could have been put together too quickly, so Iβd like to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and still encourage others to form their own opinion.
